However, a single day of celebrations was not enough for the son of a Russian billionaire tycoon and his bride.

The second part of the £700 million ($1.3 billion) wedding party is to be held at a secret venue in London this weekend, this time with celebrities including Sir Elton John and Beyonce performing.

Said Gutseriev, 28, and his 20-year-old bride Khadija Uzhakhova married in Moscow last Saturday. His father, the oligarch Mikhail Gutseriev, has now paid for a second party for the pair to take place this weekend in the UK. It is expected to be held for family and close friends.

Last weekend the couple hosted 600 guests in the Moscow banqueting venue Safisa, whose walls and canopies were covered with thousands of fresh flowers for the occasion. The celebrations included fireworks and a towering, nine-tier wedding cake in pink and white, topped by a star and crescent to symbolise the couple's Muslim faith.

In the no-expense-spared event, guests were presented with gold boxes bearing the bride and groom's names.
